Lady Warriors Lacrosse Overcome by Blue Wave
The Warriors lose to defending three-time state champion Darien, 11-6.

In a rematch of last year's CIAC Division I semifinals, the Lady Warriors fell to defending three-time state champion Darien, 16-9, in an early-season battle of unbeatens.
Warrior captain Amy Drummond and freshman Casey Pearsall led the Warriors with two goals apiece. But Wilton never posed a serious to Darien, to whom they lost 11-6 in last season's state tournament.
Darien Senior Ann Fucigna scored three of her four goals in the first half, helping the Blue Wave (4-0) build a 10-5 lead at the intermission.

Co-captain Liz Calby also pitched in, scoring two of her three goals in the first half. Each player contributed a pair of assists.
In the second half, Darien chose to swap goalies, bringing in Claire Dickson to replace freshman Caylee Waters. Wilton (3-1) mounted a small comeback, pulling within three goals at one point.

Darien eventually wore down Wilton with their superior depth, as six different players scored for the Blue Wave in the second half.
Darien and Wilton were ranked first and second in last year's Laxpower.com Connecticut rankings, and very easily could meet in the state tournament again this year.
