Long-Time Wilton Town Planner Resigns
Director of Planning and Land Use Management Bob Nerney has held the position for over 18 years.
WILTON, CT — Director of Planning and Land Use Management Bob Nerney is resigning his position, according to a statement released Thursday by First Selectwoman Lynne Vanderslice.
Nerney's resignation is effective Feb. 7.
Vanderslice said she approached the news of Nerney's resignaton with "a great mix of emotions."

"On the one hand, there is excitement for Bob that he will be returning to his beginnings, a much
larger environment, a city that served as the first Connecticut home for his family and which is
only ten minutes from his current home," Vanderslice said in a news release. "On the other hand, without question Bob is the best in his profession and is one of the nicest individuals one can meet."
Nerney has been the town planner for over 18 years. Planning and Zoning Commissioner Chair Scott Lawrence and Vanderslice will be presenting the Board of Selectmen with a recommended recruitment plan for Nerney’s successor, according to the release.
