Music on the Hill Hosts September Soiree

Join friends and supporters for an evening of sweets, swag, and song.

The 3rd annual Soirée fundraiser will take place on Friday, September 18, at 7:30 p.m. at the Parish Hall at WEPCO church complex, 48 New Canaan Road in Wilton.

Guests may bid on tantalizing auction items -- from home-made pies to a scenic flight over New York -- or just come to enjoy dessert, wine, and song with fellow music-lovers.

Tickets: $30 purchased in advance at www.musiconthehillCT.org; $35 at the door.

Proceeds from the evening will support Music on the Hill’s Fall 2015 programming:

  • September 26: Handbell Workshop at WEPCO. Learn to ring! Two tracks: beginner (“never touched a bell before”) and experienced. Cost: $40 (includes lunch). Some experience reading music required.
  • October 24: Handel’s Israel in Egypt. Double chorus and soloists perform Handel’s favorite (if less well-known) oratorio with The Sebastians, an acclaimed New York City-based ensemble specializing in 17th and 18th century music performed on period instruments. This free concert, “a gift to the community,” will take place at Norwalk’s Concert Hall.
  • November 20: “Songs of Thanksgiving” by the Music on the Hill Chamber Chorus, a 16-voice professional ensemble known for impeccable choral performance. Norfield Congregational Church in Weston. Tickets: $20 in advance at www.musiconthehillCT.org; $25 at the door.
  • December 11: “Sounds of the Season” Christmas concert of the Jubilate Ringers handbell choir and Festival Chorus at WEPCO. Tickets ($20) will be available in advance on the website.
