Police Find Rampant Commercial Vehicle Violations

You'd think with all the driving they do, truckers would be pretty religious about keeping their rigs in tiptop shape. And, last week anyway, you would have been wrong.

The Wilton Police Department conducted a series of commercial motor vehicle safety inspections at Wilton High School on Tuesday, Aug. 17. According to police, in a four-hour period they issued 27 infractions for a total of 31 different violations.

Those infractions amount to $4,306 in fines. In addition, seven vehicles were placed out of service due to safety violations.

Wilton conducts similar inspections over the course of the year. On Tuesday, they partnered with the Connecticut State Police Truck Squad to make them happen.
