Representative Brandon McGee Named Housing Committee Chair

(HARTFORD, CT) – House Speaker-designate Matt Ritter (D-Hartford) and House Majority Leader Jason Rojas (D-East Hartford, Manchester) today announced that State Representative Brandon McGee (D-Hartford, Windsor) will remain the House Chair of the Housing Committee.

"Brandon has brought a fresh and relevant perspective to the Housing committee," said Speaker-designate Ritter. "His dedication and diligence in his work have materialized into meaningful legislation. I look forward to working with my close friend during the 2021 session."

McGee grew up in public housing and understands the opportunities and liabilities that housing can present for residents of our state. McGee understand how these issues intersect and is best prepared to ensure that our housing policy does the most good for the greatest number of people."

"I'm honored to continue as House Chair of the Housing Committee," said McGee. "The COVID pandemic has caused a significant amount of economic strife, and for many, there is uncertainty surrounding their housing situation. This issue needs to be addressed immediately and I plan on doing so during the upcoming session."

Rep. McGee has represented the 5th Assembly District since 2013. In addition to serving as the Housing Chair, McGee also serves as the chairman of the Black and Puerto Rican Caucus.
