Snow Accumulation Estimates Increase for Connecticut Tuesday
Tuesday's snow initially looked to be a nuisance but not anymore as a Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for most of the state.

It’s amazing how fast things change when it comes to weather, especially snow forecasts. Yesterday, a coating to one inch of snow was the forecast for Connecticut, and that was pretty much the same estimation this morning. But that is now out the window and now it looks like a slippery commute home from work Tuesday.
For all of the teachers and students out there, who are hoping for an early dismissal Tuesday, there’s some good news about that. WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons said, “light snow coming in Tuesday midday! Some early school dismissals likely!”
NBC Connecticut Meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan said on social media that the “morning commute is fine... evening commute is very unpleasant.” He said the snow will begin to fall across the state beginning 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday. After 1 or 2 p.m. the roads may get slick, the meteorologist said.

“Most areas get an inch or two... a few towns could see a bit more. Heaviest late afternoon/early evening,” Hanrahan wrote.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for most of Connecticut, except for towns immediately on the coast, but you’ll still see snow there too.

Here’s the latest predictions on snow accumulation estimates from the National Weather Service:
Coastal Connecticut: 1 to 3 inches of snow. Snow begins after 1 p.m. Light snow tapers off by 10 p.m. Temps right around the freezing mark.
Interior sections of Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex, and New London counties: The Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Snow could accumulate 2-3 inches here. The snow begins late morning and into the early evening on Tuesday. Temps only in the mid 20s. Light snow winds down by around 8 p.m.
Hartford and Tolland counties: Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 11 a.m. Tuesday to 4 a.m. Wednesday. Snow could accumulate between 2-4 inches. Snow begins Tuesday afternoon with the heaviest snowfall occurring around the evening commute. Snow will continue into the overnight hours before ending early Wednesday.
Super Bowl Snow?
This morning the chances were down to just a 20 percent chance of some snow late Super Bowl Sunday and this afternoon the chances are now up to 40-50 percent. A lot of time between now and then. We’ll keep updating that forecast.
