Sword, Cutlery Sets Swiped to the Tune of $33k

Either a Wilton thief is intent on opening a pretty serious restaurant or the market for bladed weaponry is particularly hot right now because something prompted the theft of over $33,000 worth of cutlery from a Wilton business on Aug. 4.

Vector Marketing, a company notorious for its pyramid scheme sales of knives and other kitchen utensils, was burglarized last week at its 35 Danbury Road location. In addition to 57 sets of cutlery valued at $579 per set, a sword, dubbed by police as a collector's item, was stolen from the owner's office.

"They're easy to sell and of high value," said Captain John Lynch of the Wilton Police Department, so it is no wonder that thieves would target the merchandise.

Police said the theif or thieves forcibly gained entry between 8 p.m. on Aug. 3 and 5 a.m. on Aug. 4. through a front window. As yet, police do not have any suspects because there are at least "thirty to forty employees in and out of there all the time," Lynch said.

The case remains under investigation and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Wilton Police Department.
