Teaching a New Generation How to Stitch Embroidery Workshops

The Fairfield County Chapter of the Embroiderers’ Guild of America will present a series of free workshops at the Wilton Historical Society on three Saturdays in May; May 2, 9 and 30 from 2 – 3:30.

The program consists of three sessions, each one and a half hours long, taught by an experienced principal teacher with at least two aides. All volunteers are members of the Embroiderers’ Guild of America, and are talented embroiderers in their own right. The students will finish their projects during the three classes, and will be given a certificate of completion. These workshops are appropriate for grades 4 and up. Or bring your work in progress and any questions you may have. All skill levels are welcome.

The Wilton Historical Society is grateful to the Christine Dartley Memorial Fund, which is underwriting this program. Christine Dartley, whose lifelong passion was embroidery, was a longtime Wilton resident. She was a loyal volunteer at the Wilton Historical Society’s Fourth Grade Program, where for many years she delighted in teaching children about sewing and embroidery. She was for many years a member of the Board and the Historian for the Fairfield County Chapter of the Embroiderers’ Guild of America. In addition to many projects of her own, she loved to collect antique works of embroidery from all over the world.
