Trinity/Westhill/Weather No Match for Lady Warriors
WHS Varsity Girls Soccer and Field Hockey win their openers.
With the weather unable to shut out the two scheduled WHS varsity games today, the Lady Warriors took matters into their own hands and shut out their opposition.
Both the Varsity Field Hockey and Girls Varsity Soccer teams won their opening games in commanding fashion Wednesday night, beating Westhill 7-0 and Trinity 1-0 respectively. The victories came despite intermittent showers that kept playing surfaces slick.
"We played okay, not as well as we could have," said Girls Soccer Coach Scott Neumann after the game. "I give a lot of credit to Trinity. The is one of the better teams they've fielded... I think our girls were a little nervous to begin with but luckily we pulled it out."

Co-captain Lauren DeCarlo scored Wilton's only goal of the match but it proved to be enough to outlast Trinity. Meanwhile, the Field Hockey team had a much easier time of it, scoring seven unanswered goals in a lopsided victory in which they rarely allowed Westhill onto their half of the field.
The Varsity Girls Soccer team plays next at home against Norwalk on Friday at 3 p.m., while the Field Hockey team faces McMahon away on Monday at 8 p.m.
