WILTON, CT — The 2019 municipal election is heating up in Wilton and there are plenty of races with candidates eager to serve in elected office.

Wilton Patch asked candidates to answer questions about their campaigns and will be publishing candidate profiles as election day draws near.

Jake Bittner, 44, is running for a seat on the Planning & Zoning Commission as an unaffiliated candidate. He holds a BSD in architectural design and has been a studio director for 22 years.

The single most pressing issue facing our town/district is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.

Lack of demand. I support quality and creative development that builds on Wilton's unique historic and rural character so potential businesses and citizens want to be here and stay here.

I have years of experience working and understanding how the technical language of planning and zoning regulations actually shape buildings and environments, and how involving historic preservation can encourage personal and financial investment in towns or cities.

I work daily bringing together people with conflicting points of view to negotiate the highest quality outcomes.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

I'm fortunate to work in a profession where you work hard to make real built things you can be proud of at the end of the day. This requires creativity, planning, communication, cooperation, and management. These skills are central to the Planning and Zoning Commission process.
