Murphy tells Patch why he should be re-elected to the Planning & Zoning Commission.

WILTON, CT — The 2019 municipal election is heating up in Wilton and there are plenty of races with candidates eager to serve in elected office.
Wilton Patch asked candidates to answer questions about their campaigns and will be publishing candidate profiles as election day draws near.
Matthew Murphy, 52, is running for re-election to the Planning and Zoning Commission as a Republican. He is the owner and manager of Fred D. Knapp & Son Funeral Home in Greenwich.

The single most pressing issue facing our town/district is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.
From a Planning and Zoning prospective. I feel the most pressing issue is, strengthening Wilton’s economic development. Balancing modern development along with keeping the town’s unique charm.

What I am doing to aid this, is as a current commission member, I was part of the update of the town’s Plan of Conservation and Development. I keep an open mind on applications listening to the public input.
What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
I am a long time resident of Wilton. Lived her for 26 years and raising my family here. I look at this as an opportunity to give back and serve my community. I am very open minded. Taking in as much information as possible before making any decisions.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?I am currently serving as a Planning and Zoning Commissioner. I have been involved with several commercial real estate projects in other municipalities.
