Wilton Contractor Pleads Guilty To Federal Tax Offense

The Wilton contractor underreported his business receipts, according to an investigation by the IRS.

WILTON, CT — A Wilton contractor has pleaded guilty in Hartford federal court to a tax offense

According to court documents and statements made in court, David Anspach, 67 operated a construction and remodeling business. During the course of a civil audit of Anspach’s tax return for the 2013 tax year, the IRS discovered that Anspach’s business receipts were underreported, according to a news release from the United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut.

Some of the underreported business receipts were subsequently accounted for as payments to workers, but in an effort to offset further receipts, Anspach provided false documents to a representative who had prepared Anspach's tax return and was assisting him during the audit, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
