WILTON, CT — Wilton EMTs brought a baby into the world, by way of the back of an ambulance, this weekend.
The Wilton Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded to a call a little after 2 p.m. on Saturday, and found a 26-year-old woman eight months along in her pregnancy, according to a post on their Facebook page.
The EMTs found the woman already in the care of members of the Wilton Police and Fire Departments, and set about packing her into the ambulance for transport to Norwalk Hospital.

The baby had other plans.
EMT crew chief Owen Willbee, EMTs Nick Bafundo, Ron Hitter and Norwalk Hospital Paramedic Joe Kearny delivered the baby girl in the back of the ambulance just a few yards from her home.

Once delivered, the baby and mom were transported directly to maternity at Norwalk Hospital.
