Wilton Enhances 311 Calls with Mobile Reporting App

Wilton is promoting use of SeeClickFix mobile app as means of expediting and following the progress of 311 calls.

WILTON, CT — Those so-called 311 calls, meant to address quality of life issues and non-life-threatening emergencies such as downed tree limbs, are getting a high-tech upgrade in Wilton. The town has announced that a Wilton-oriented version of the SeeClickFix app for mobile phones is now available.

The New Haven-based SeeClickFix partners with local municipalities to create town-specific mobile apps which can both enhance and substitute for traditional 311 calls. Through the app, Wilton residents may provide photographs and videos, as well as comment on, and vote to fix, problems submitted by their neighbors. The app also provides residents with information about where within the Wilton government their problem is being handled, and provides them with notifications of other issues reported in their "watch area." On the management side of the app, the SeeClickFix platform provides officials with a centralized issue management system to manage the reported problems and engage with residents throughout the process.

The latest version of the app, SeeClickFix OS 5.0 is being released tomorrow, March 27. It boasts a new interface and geo-location features such as the ability to extract locations from photographs. The software is available for iPhone, Android and Blackberry.
