Christopher Nugent scores three goals for Warriors in a 12-5 victory

The Wilton boys lacrosse team posted an easier than expected 12-5 victory over New Canaan on Saturday in the FCIAC quarterfinals.

Christopher Nugent scored three goals for the Warriors (12-5), who recorded their eighth straight victory.

Michael Serpa and Connor Melillo each added two goals for the Warriors (12-5), who avenged a 10-8 regular-season defeat to New Canaan, their last loss.

Wilton advanced to the semifinals to take on top seed Darien at McMahon on Tuesday. The Blue Wave reached the final four with a 17-1 rout of Fairfield Ludlowe on Saturday.

After grabbing a 6-3 halftime lead, Wilton outscored New Canaan 4-0 in the third quarter to put the contest out of reach.

Sam Somers had 16 saves for Wilton while New Canaan's Jimmy Joe Granito stopped 17 shots to prevent the margin from being even worse.
