WILTON, CT — A Wilton Public Schools student died "suddenly and unexpectedly," the superintendent announced Monday night.

In his letter to parents, Dr. Kevin Smith did not identify the student, but George DiRocco, a junior, was named in a tweet by the Wilton High School football team early Tuesday afternoon.

Support centers have been set up within the high school and outdoors on the north side of the field house, and online for students via Zoom. Counselors, social workers and psychologists will be accessible to students and families, according to the letter.
