Wilton Offers Tax Relief to Gold Star Families
Wilton has adopted the Gold Star Parent and Spouse Tax Relief ordinance.
WILTON, CT — The town has adopted the Gold Star Parent and Spouse Tax Relief ordinance.
The decision was made by the Board of Selectmen at their meeting on Monday.
Under the ordinance, a qualifying parent and/or spouse is eligible for a reduction of 10 percent of the assessed value property on which they are charged property taxes. The ordinance is effective 21 days from adoption.

To qualify, the resident must be the parent of a child who was killed in action, or the surviving spouse of a person who was killed in action while performing active military duty.
Applications will soon be available from the Assessor’s Office and must be returned prior to October 1, 2019, to be eligible for relief on the July 1, 2020, tax bill.
