Wilton One Of The Favorites For Class M Swimming Finals

Wilton is considered one of the favorites for the CIAC Class M swimming finals, which are set for Tuesday at Southern Connecticut State University beginning at 6 p.m.

During qualifying, Wilton had three first-place finishes, including two for KC Moss, who won the 200-yard IM (2:09.82) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:04.89).

Last month, Moss announced a verbal commitment to attend Stanford University, one of the national powerhouses in women's college swimming. 

Freshman Maggie Kauffield won the 500-yard freestyle (5:19:52) and Stephanie Moriarty took second in the 100-yard backstroke.

Here are some other top finishes for the Warriors during the qualifying meet:

200-yard medley relay: Third, (Stephanie Moriarty, KC Moss Caroline O'Brien and Kristen Moss), 1:54.41

200-yard freestyle: Kauffield, sixth (2:02.52).

200-yard IM: Julia Lewis, fourth (2:18.98).

50-yard freestyle: O'Brien, sixth (25:43), Grace Hendreem, seventh (25.45).

100-yard butterfly: O'Brien, third (1:01.29), Moriarty, fifth (1:01.72)

100-yard freestyle: Hendree, fifth (55.22) and Kristen Moss seventh (54.69

200-yard freestyle relay: Fourth (KC Moss, Hendee, O'Brien and Morgan and Morgan Scarth), 1:44:05

100-yard backstroke: Kristen Moss, fourth (1:01.33).

On Monday, Wilton's Katie Warburg won her second straight Class M diving championship at Plainville High School.

Warburg had a total of 402.70 points, finishing just over 14 points ahead of runner-up Kalli Roebelen of Windsor (388.35 points).

Wilton had two other divers in the top 25. Kady Holland was fifth (303.45) and Christina Brandt 22nd (187.40 points)
