Wilton Plans For Parade and Virtual Graduation

The Wilton High School graduation include prerecorded speeches, a parade of cars, and the awarding of diplomas beneath a bridge.

WILTON, CT — "Pomp and Circumstances" will be played, but there will be little else that will be described as "traditional" in the graduation ceremony for the Wilton High School class of 2020.

On Thursday, the Board of Education approved a plan for a virtual graduation ceremony that will include prerecorded speeches, a parade of cars through the town, and the awarding of diplomas beneath a bridge.

The proceedings are set for June 13, and were approved unanimously by the Board of Education at a special livestreamed meeting Thursday night.

The graduation will also have its own soundtrack, consisting of class favorite tunes combined with more traditional songs for the occasion.

The route of for the caravan of cars carrying the graduating seniors has not been set yet, but will end beneath a bridge near the school. Social distancing will be maintained as students will not be leaving their cars.
