Wilton Reconsidering Steel Guardrails
Steel guardrails are standard throughout the state, but some residents say they leave a lot to be desired, aesthetically.
WILTON, CT — The town is taking a long, hard look at its cold, steel guardrails.
Wilton has been replacing its wood and wire guardrails with Connecticut-standard steel as they have aged out. But this June, "several residents contacted the First Selectwoman’s office to object to the aesthetics," according to a release.
As a result, First Selectwoman Lynne Vanderslice issued a moratorium on further replacements until the Board of Selectmen could reconsider the Town’s policy.

Town staff are currently investigating alternative guardrail styles and reviewing guardrail
placement practices versus requirements. Their findings will be presented at a September
meeting of the Board of Selectmen, at which residents are welcome to provide comment after the presentation, either at the meeting or by email.
