Wilton Resident Andrew Gadwah Featured in Terrence McNally’s “Master Class”

Wilton, Conn. - Wilton resident Andrew Gadwah portrays onstage accompanist Manny Weinstock in Terrence McNally's Tony Award-winning dramatic play "Master Class," now in its final performances February 27 and 28 at The Wilton Playshop.

Inspired by the Juilliard master classes led by the legendary opera singer Maria Callas, the play follows Callas as she conducts a public master class for young singers. Through her sharp wit, biting critiques, and demanding artistic standards, she pushes the students far beyond vocal technique — forcing them to confront their fears, ambitions, and the emotional truth behind their performances.

Gadwah, who last appeared on the Playshop stage as William Barfee in “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” teaches chorus, music theory and theater at New Fairfield High School (NFHS). He has music directed numerous school and community theater productions, including “Into the Woods” (Wilton Playshop); “Little Shop of Horrors” and “Matilda” (NFHS); “Evita” and “Grease” (Musicals at Richter); “Wreck the Halls” (Sherman Players); and “A Grand Night for Singing” (Center Stage Shelton). He also recently presented a staged reading of his own original musical “Dandelions” this past January at NFHS.

Others in “Master Class” include Priscilla Squiers (Maria Callas) Sandra Fernandes (Sophie De Palma), Alea Vorillas (Sharon Graham), Bill King (Anthony Candolino) and Hugh Tucker (Stagehand).

The production, directed by Al Recchia, plays its final two performances February 27 and 28 at 7:30 PM. Wilton Playshop is located at 15 Lovers Lane, just off Rt. 33, in Wilton, CT.
