Wilton School Threatened on Social Media: Police

The post included a picture of a juvenile male holding what appeared to be a gun with a caption that read 'Don't come to school Monday,'

WILTON, CT — Police responded early Tuesday morning to what they described as a social media post involving a possible school threat.

Wilton police were notified at 5:45 a.m. of a post containing a picture of a juvenile male holding what appeared to be a firearm with a caption that read "Don't come to school Monday," according to a news release.

The Wilton PD say that information received from both the New Canaan Police Department and the Facebook Law Enforcement Response Team identified a residence in Wilton from which the post originated. Police made contact with the residents of the home, none of which were identified as the juvenile male depicted in the social media post.

Further investigation revealed that the juvenile male depicted photo also resided in Wilton. Officers went to that residence, and made contact with the person in the online photo and his parent at approximately 6:50 a.m. Police seized what has been determined to be a BB gun that was shown in the social media post as well as an airsoft gun from the residence.

The juvenile male and parent have been cooperative with the investigation, according to the release, and the police have stressed that at no time did there appear to be a viable threat to the public or school community.
