The Wilton boys lacrosse team will participate in the third Annual Nike “Checking for Cancer” Lacrosse Invitational Saturday at the Haverford School in Pennsylvania.
The prestigious single-day event features 12 of the top boys lacrosse programs on the East Coast, including four from Fairfield Country. Joining the Warriors from the region will be Darien, Fairfield Prep and Greenwich.

The other participants are: Chatham (NJ.), Conestoga (PA), Delbarton (NJ), Downingtown East (PA), Georgetown Prep (MD), LaSalle (PA), Radnor (PA) and host Haverford (PA).
The event will serve to promote cancer literacy and remind of the importance of early detection.

John Nostrant, coach of the Haverford School, was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2007, while Georgetown Prep coach Kevin Giblin has received treatment for colorectal cancer.
Here's is the chedule of games:
11 a.m - Radnor vs. Downingtown East
11 a.m. -- Darien vs. Haverford
1 p.m. - Georgetown Prep vs. Delbarton
1 p.m. - Conestoga vs. Greenwich
3 p.m. - LaSalle vs. Wilton
3 p.m. - Chatham vs. Fairfield Prep.
Located just outside Philadelphia, the Haverford School is about a 3 1/2-hour drive from Darien.

Darien 14, Wilton 7 - Chris Nugent scored a second-half hat trick for the Warriors, who couldn't stay with the state's top-ranked Blue Wave.
