Former Wilton High School ace Kurt Marut is spending the summer playing for the Sag Harbor Whalers of the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League.

Marut redshirted last season at Connecticut due to the Huskies' deep pitching staff that helped carry the team to the NCAA Super Regionals, where it lost to eventual national champion South Carolina.

Four of UConn's pitchers were taken in this year's major draft, so Marut could have a chance to make an impact for the Huskies in the spring. He will return to UConn in the fall.

Marut was selected to play in the ACBL All-Star game, which was played last month at MCU Ballpark, the home of the Brooklyn Cyclones, the Mets' Class A team in the New York-Penn League.

Marut, used only out of the bullpen for Sag Harbor, has made 11 appearances for the team, going 3-1 with a 2.36 ERA. The ACBL regular season concludes on Wednesday.
