The Wilton boys fifth grade travel basketball team played its third game in two days in the Darien season-opening tournament on Sunday and lost a hard-fought 34-28 contest to Madison.
The visitors jumped out to an early lead, but Wilton's Tyler Previte got the offense going with a tough basket in the paint. Zach Pozzi had another basket and free throw and Billy Ronk added four points.

Zayvion Eusebe was a force on the boards, keeping Wilton in the game as Madison held a 20-12 lead at the half.
Wilton came out in the second half playing tough defense behind Zach Dedrick and Richard Nolan. Ryan Schriber and Brendan Connor scored baskets in the quarter for Wilton, which still trailed 26-17 heading into the final period.

Wilton outscored Madison 11-8 in the fourth behind five points from Kyle Phillips along with baskets by Cole Barnes and Schriber. Wilton cut the lead to four before Madison held on for the win.

The Wilton field hockey squad, which won the CIAC Class M state championship, placed two players on the all-FCIAC first team.
Earning the honor for the Warriors were forward-midfielder Clare Detrick-Yee and midfielder Madison Hendry.
In addition, Joanne Nazareth and Christie Roberts were named to the all-FCIAC East team.
Wilton dethroned four-time state champion Darien with a 3-2 overtime victory in the semifinals, then defeated defeated Branford 2-1 in the finals to claim the school's third state championship.
Detrick-Yee scored the winning goal in the state championship game for the Warriors, who finished the season with a 20-3 record.
