Winners of three in a row, the boys basketball team looks to move over .500 on Tuesday when the Warriors host Staples at 7 p.m.

After posting back-to-back overtime wins against McMahon and Norwalk, the Warriors routed Trumbull 61-39 on Thursday to improve to 6-6.

A year after finishing just 2-18, the Warriors are two wins away from clinching their first state tournament berth since 1999.

Staples, which is coming off a 60-51 loss to Fairfield Warde on Friday, enters Tuesday's contest on a two-game losing streak. The Wreckers have dropped to 6-6 after winning four in a row.

The Wilton girls (10-2, 10-3)  head to Staples (7 p.m.) in search of their sixth straight victory.

The Warriors are coming off their most impressive win of the season, a 58-52 decision over defending FCIAC champion Trumbull on Thursday.

The win served noticed that the Warriors could be a force with which to be reckoned in the FCIAC playoffs. Wilton is now tied with Trumbull and St. Joseph for the FCIAC's second-best record and the Warriors have wins over the Eagles and Cadets.

Staples is headed into the opposite direction, having lost three in a row, including a 52-40 loss on Friday to Fairfield Warde, which also has reeled off five straight victories.

The Wreckers (8-6, 7-5) have dropped into a five-way tie for seventh in the FCIAC with Darien, Norwalk, Stamford and Fairfield Warde.
