Wilton, which defeated Darien National 12-3 Sunday in the finals of the 11-year-old District One baseball tournament on Sunday, begins play in the section one tournament on Wednesday at Bridgeport's Blackham School.

Wilton opens with district four winner Annex at 5:30 p.m., then plays district five winner Yaleville on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

After an off day Friday, Wilton faces district three winner Seymour on Saturday and district two winner Fairfield American on Sunday. After pool play, the top two teams vie for the title on Tuesday.

In Sunday's game, Jack Dooley hit two runs and Billy Black allowed four hits.

After a three-week hiatus, former Wilton resident Tommy McDonagh is entered in the New England Amateur championship, which begins Tuesday at the Metacomet Country Club in East Providence, R.I.

This is will be the first tournament for McDonagh, who plays out the Shorehaven Country Club, since he won the Connecticut Amateur championship and the Ike Campionship in a span of five days last month.

Other local players entered include Weston's Bernie D'Amato, Norwalk's Cameron Wilson and New Canaan Brian Tohir and William Delano.

Wilton's senior American Legion team finished the season at 12-15 following Sunday's 4-2 loss to Greenwich. The junior closed wiith an 11-16 after Monday's 4-1 loss to Trumbull.
