Wilton's Amy Bevilaqua, 37, won the inaugural race of the year in the Westport Road Runners Summer Series. She posted a winning time of 12:14 in the 2.3-mile race at Staples High School on Saturday.

Interestingly, she beat out three teenaged boys, all from Norwalk, who finished second through fourth. They were:  Edwin Rosales, 16, 12:29; Ian McGrath, 15, 12:30; and Mike Corasaniti, 18, 12:49.

A mother of four, Bevilacqua is a veteran triathlete who won the 2010 KIC IT Triathlon in Stamford.

Rich Ficcirillo, 44, from New York, completed the top five Saturday with a time of 12:55.

-- Wilton seeks its third win in the 12-year-old District One Little League tournament when it faces Norwalk on Tuesday at Billy Terry Field (7:30 p.m.) .

After opening with a 3-2 win over Darien National, Wilton (2-0) posted a 10-3 victory over Weston on Sunday.

The team is in second place in pool B, just behind Darien National (3-0), which has played one more game.

Wilton also has games on Thursday, Friday and Sunday, when pool play wraps up.

In the 10-year-old tournament, Wilton improved to 5-0 following Monday's 12-10 win over over Ridgefield American.

On Saturday, Wilton defeated Norwalk 6-4 in 10 innings. Brendan Connor's snapped a 4-4 tie with a two-run double in the top of the 10th.

Wilton concludes pool play Wednesday against Darien National at Darien's McGuane Field (5:45 p.m.)

-- Wilton linebacker Ryan Phillips is a member of the Fairfield County team that will play in Friday's 15th annual Hall of Fame Football Classic at West Haven's Ken Strong Stadium (7:30 p.m.)  

The contest matches graduated high school seniors from Fairfield County against graduated seniors from New Haven County. New Haven leads the series, 10-4.

The game is presented by the Ralph Desantis Fairfield County and the Gene Casey New Haven County Chapters of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame. Tickets are $ 7 each and will be available at the gate.
