The Warriors (15-6) snapped a 26-game losing streak against Darien with an 11-3 semifinal victory on Wednesday that also ended the Blue Wave's six-year title reign. It was Wilton's first win against Darien since 1999.

The Warriors are seeking their fifth state championship and first 2004. Three of Wilton's title came against New Canaan.

The long-time rivals are meeting in a state final for the fifth time with Wilton sporting a 3-1 record. The Warriors previously beat the Rams in the finals in 2004, 1998 and 1995. New Canaan won in 1996.

Overall, Wilton is making its eighth appearance in a state final.  The Warriors' last trip came in 2009, when they lost to Darien, 17-11.

New Canaan (13-6) advanced to this year's final with a 6-5 win over New Fairfield.

The teams split their two previous meetings this season. New Canaan beat Wilton 10-8 during the regular season but the Warriors posted an 12-5 victory in the FCIAC playoffs.
