The Wilton girls soccer team spread the wealth Thursday in its state tournanent opener.
Casey Pearsall, Tegan Helms, Jayne Maccio, Lindsay Knutson and Colleen Deardoff all scored as the 10th-seeded Warriors rolled to a 5-0 victory over No. 23 New Fairfield in a Class L first-round contest.
The contest was close in the first half as Wilton (10-4-5) only led 1-0 at the intermission on Pearsall's goal.

The win sets up a second-round contest on Saturday at No. 7 seed Berlin (2 p.m.), which had a bye in the first round.
Liz Reda and Kasey O'Brien combined for three saves in goal for Wilton.

The Wilton boys' soccer squad (10-6-2) is seeded 16th and hosts No. 17 New London in a Class L first round contest on Friday (2 p.m.)
If the Warriors advance, they will play at top Wethersfield in the second round on Monday (2 p.m.). Wilton matched the success of the girls last season by reaching the final eight.
The Wilton football team, needing to win its final two games to clinch a winning season, visits Fairfield Warde on Friday at 7 p.m.
Last week, the Warriors defeated winless Westhill 33-6 to snap a four-game losing streak and improve to 4-4. Sean Carroll tossed four touchdown passes for Wilton.
Warde also enters the contest at 4-4, but has led at halftime in three of its four losses, including last week against undefeated Staples, which rallied for a 35-17 victory after trailing 17-14 at the intermission.
The Wilton U-11 A boys soccer team dropped a 5-3 decision to the Fairfield Barracudas on Sunday at Allen's Meadow.
Ethan Grandolfo, Christopher Tienken and Chase Connolly scored for Wilton while Ethan Fang had an assist. Cam Farrar, who allowed one goal in the first half for Wilton, was replaced in the second half by Brendon Connor.
Six Wilton teams have made it to the semifinals of the Fairfield County Football League playoffs, which will be played this weekend.
