Wilton Scores and Standings, Nov. 9

Swimmers KC Moss of Wilton and Maddie Rusch of New Canaan have been named the female winners of the BlueStreak-Overtime FCIAC Player of the Week award.

Moss was named the Swimmer of the Meet at the FCIAC championships as she set school records in the 100 breaststroke and 200 individual medley and also was a member of Wilton's first-place team in the 200 medley relay.

Rusch, who helped lead New Canaan to its second straight FCIAC title, set a league record the 50 freestyle and also won the 100 butterfly.

In addition, she was a member of the winning 200 freestyle relay team as New Canaan won consecutive FCIAC titles for the first time since 1978-79.

The Wilton girls cross country team finished seventh Tuesday in the state Open meet at Madison's Hammonasset State Park.

Alosha Southern was the first Wilton runner across the finish line, placing 52nd overall with a time of 20:17. She was followed by Rebecca Craig (67th, 20:30) and Paige Lyons (20:31).

Ridgefield won the overall team title with 83 points, 24 better than runner-up Guilford.

Greenwich (149) was third, followed by Cheshire (165), Simsbury (185), Glastonbury (187), Wilton (220), New Milford (255), Norwich Free Academy (260) and Fairfield Warde (266).

Greenwich's Abigail Markowitz finished third in the individual race with a time of 18:56, the only local runner in the top 10.  

The meet originally was scheduled for Friday at Manchester's Wickham Park was postponed. The location was moved because Wickham Park suffered damage in the recent snowstorm.

Tuesday's results do not include finishers from the Class SS race who will
be merged in to the final official results. Those results will be posted by the CIAC later in the week.

Eight Wilton teams have advanced in the Fairfield County Football League playoffs. Because of last week's postponements, quarterfinal games in each age bracket will be played on Tuesday and Wednesday to complete the playoffs before Thanksgiving. Semifinal games are set for this weekend will the finals scheduled for next weekend.
