The Wilton fifth grade Blue team defeated Darien 21-14 on Saturday in action in the Fairfield County Football League to improve to 5-1.
On the first play of the game, Tyler Previte delivered Darien a wakeup call by running straight up the middle for an 80 yard-TD. On the ensuing possession, Wilton's Dean DiNanno delivered a hard hit on a Darien ballcarrier that helped set the tone for the game.

As the first half continued, Wilton’s offense thrived with Kyle Phillips providing a 40-yard run, followed by center Jack Ferguson leading him into the end zone on a quarterback sneak. Billy Ronk added a 2-point conversion and Wilton got another score on Previte's second TD run later in the first half. Andrew Luciano converted the extra point.
Matt Graham and Jonny Wu recorded sacks in the first half for Wilton, which kept Darien scoreless. Ethan Masek also caused a fumble, which was recovered by Nicholas Koenigsberger.

Late in the third quarter, Darien scored its first TD, but a big tackle from Joey Seaman resulted in a failed conversion attempt.
Late in the fourth period, Darien tried to mount a comeback after another TD, but DiNanno sealed the victory with an interception at the 20-yard line.
Wilton U-9 boys win three in Ridgefield tourney
The Wilton boys U-9 Blue soccer team won three of its four games this past weekend in the SCOR tournament in Ridgefield.
In game one, Wilton rallied for a 3-2 victory against the New Canaan Revolution after trailing 1-0. Wilton took the lead behind two goals by Walker Coyle, assisted by William Dahl and George Fang, and the game-winner by Jake Lash, which was assisted by Coyle.
Goalie Fang kept New Canaan scoreless in the second half with a number of saves.
In game two, Wilton posted a decisive 6-1 victory against the SCOR Tigers. Wilton scored quickly in the first half with Lash finding the back of the net, assisted by Will Hughes. Dahl then assisted on Hughes' goal that made it 2-0 at the half.
Ridgefield scored to open the second half, but Wilton responded with goals from Dahl, Michael Colbert, Mikey Roberts and Owen Lillis to pull away. Goalie Brian Curley kept Ridgefield scoreless in the first half with Simon Alexander preserving the win as goalie in the second half.
In game three, Wilton recorded another decisive win with a 5-0 victory over the SCOR Bobcats.
Wilton started fast as Alexander scored off a free kick just 10 seconds into the game. Max Rothkopf followed up with a successful penalty kick before Alexander scored again when his corner kick was tipped into the net by Ridgefield defenders.
Hughes then found the inside corner of the net off a pass from Lillis. Fang, assisted by Cole Iannuzzi, scored the final goal of the game with a curved ball around the goalkeeper. Goalies Curley and Dahl combined for the shutout.
Wilton completed play in the SCOR tournament with a 3-2 loss to New Canaan Pride. Wilton made it interesting, rallying for two goals after New Canaan had jumped out to a 3-0 lead.
Alexander tipped in Lash's shot to get Wilton on the board before Lillis scored off a direct free kick.
Wilton's defense in all four games was led by Rothkopf, Colbert, Iannuzzi, Fang and Roberts.
Wilton boys U-11 defeat Greenburg United
The Wilton boys U-11 Blue soccer team defeated Greenburg United 4-3 on Sunday in Dobbs Ferry , N.Y.
Wilton's Jay Cassone found the net to break a scoreless tie midway through the first half.
The defensive work of Andrew Bucciero, Clay Adams, Ethan Fang and Ryan Schriber kept the game tight. Peter Denious made several key saves and had a long goal kick that helped Cam Farrar get behind the Greenburgh defense to give Wilton a 2-1 lead at halftime.
Wilton extended its lead when Colin Kroll stole an outlet pass and scored into an empty net. Chase Connolly added Wilton's final goal, scoring off a strong cross from Brendan Connor.
