Staples (7-5-3) is still mathematically alive with 24 points, but needs help.

On Thursday, Trumbull hosts No. 2 seed Westhill, which is a rugged test for the Eagles, and Fairfield Warde entertains Trinity Catholic, which is 1-13-0.

Staples visits Stamford on Thursday and will have one eye on the scoreboard as the Wreckers need a win and either a loss by Trumbull or Fairfield Warde.
