With its teams not scheduled to resume practice until the school opens on Tuesday, Wilton has postponed its season-opening football game against Bridgeport Central.
Originally scheduled for Friday, Sept 16, the game has been pushed back three days until Monday, Sept. 19 at 5 p.m. at Fujitani Field. The game was delayed due to the missed practice time in the aftermath of Irene.

The CIAC normally requires 14 days of practice before a school can play its first regular season game. However, in the wake of the hardships caused by the storm, the CIAC has modified its policy, meaning Wilton's other teams may be able to start their seasons on time.
Here is the CIAC's updated statement:

CIAC would like to thank all those schools that responded to the survey on their status in meeting the fourteen day team practice regulation. It appears from the results of the survey that a number of schools around the state will have difficulty in reaching fourteen practice days prior to the scheduled start of the season.
CIAC in consultation with the Superintendents Association has determined due to the unique and unusual situation our member schools are facing because of hurricane Irene the fourteen day team practice regulation will be modified for the fall season as follows:
* Member schools will be given the responsibility of determining the physical readiness of their athletes and teams to begin competition in any sport that was unable to complete fourteen days of practice at all levels of play. Member schools have been doing just this for years with individual athletes as the fourteen day regulation is a team regulation and not an individual player regulation.
* If it is determined by the school that additional practice days are needed the school should postpone and reschedule games/meets as necessary.
CIAC realizes the difficult situation many of our member schools are in at this time and the CIAC Board of Control and CIAC staff hope that this procedure will help.
The Fairfield County Sports Commission today announced its 2011 Sports Persons of the Year in each of the 15 communities the Commission serves.
The local sports honorees will be recognized at the annual Sports Night awards dinner, Monday, Oct. 17 at the Hyatt Regency Greenwich at 6 p.m.
In each of the 15 communities, a committee headed by a local town representative of the Commission, selected a Sports Person of the Year. Each winner was deemed to have had the most positive impact in their sports community from Aug. 2010-Aug. 2011.
The winner from Wilton is lacrosse standout Mike Francia, who became the Warriors' all-time leading scorer last season.
Francia helped Wilton stun Darien in the semifinals of the CIAC Class M state tournament, then defeat New Canaan in the finals.
With Wilton High School closed until next Tuesday, Saturday's annual football jamboree has been postponed, and there is no word if it will be made up.
While some districts in the region have given the okay to resume practices even while their schools remain closed, Wilton is one of two FCIAC schools not allowed to resume practices until next Tuesday.
Thursday marked the fifth consecutive day off for all of the Warriors' teams.
The issue for Wilton is that the CIAC requires 14 practice days before the first regular-season contest has been played.
The CIAC announced earlier this week that while it would not waive that requirement, it would allow Sundays to count as a practice day.
Still, even if Wilton were to resume practicing on Tuesday, it would be able to fulfill the 14-day requirement before the first official day of the fall season on Sept. 13.
That means Wilton could end up having to postpone games. The Warriors are scheduled to open their football season on Sept. 16 against Bridgeport Central.
The following message was posted on Wilton's football website on Tuesday: "given the latest announcement postponing school until next week the practice - scrimmage - jamboree schedules are still unknown till further notice."
