Wilton Softball Falls to Darien

Warriors manage only one hit off Blue Wave pitcher Jessica Demaio.

The Wilton High School girls' softball team was riding a three game winning streak going into Friday's game against undefeated Darien.

However, the Warriors dropped a 4-0 decision to the Blue Wave, managing only one hit against Darien starter Jessica Demaio.

"We were not aggressive in the least bit at the plate," Wilton coach Bruce Cunningham said. "They brought the game to us, and it showed. We were getting into bad counts early in the at bats, and the pitcher finished us off."

The only hit off Demaio was a first-inning single by first baseman Steph Boyles, as the Blue Wave improved to 7-0.

A solid pitching performance by freshman Dani Miskinis and a couple of stellar catches by senior centerfielder Stacy Pokora kept this game close, but without any run support the Warriors never stood a chance.
