The girls basketball team took care of business Monday, defeating Trinity Catholic 46-40 at the Zeoli Field House to clinch a spot in the FCIAC playoffs.
Wilton, which improved to 12-6 overall and 12-5 in league play, closes the regular season on Wednesday at Bridgeport Central.

With a win, the Warriors will nail down the No. 4 seed in the FCIAC playoffs and earn the right to play a quarterfinal game at home on Saturday.
Trinity Catholic concluded the regular season at 13-7 and 12-6.

Mackenzie Griffin scored 16 and Kellie Hurd added 14 for the Crusaders. The contest was close throughout with Wilton holding a 20-18 lead at halftime and a 29-25 advantage heading into the fourth quarter.

Jason Boswell led three players in double figures with 17 points as the Trinity Catholic boys basketball team defeated Wilton 69-55 on Monday.
The Crusaders improved to 13-5 overall and 12-4 in the FCIAC while the Warriors dropped to 8-9 and 6-9.
Kevin Leumene added 15 points and Schadrac Casimir chipped in with 13 for Trinity Catholic, which jumped out to a 16-7 lead after the first quarter. The Crusaders then extended their advantage to 35-21 at the half.
Chris Nugent scored 20 points and Eric Houska added 12 for Wilton, which played Trinity Catholic even in the second half.
The Warriors were playing their first game since clinching the school's first state tournament berth since the 1990-2000 season.

The Wilton fifth grade boys basketball team, sponsored by Pinocchio Pizza, won three of its five games this past weekend.
Wilton opened the weekend with a 38-30 victory over Ridgefield on Friday night. The team had some clutch foul shots in the final minutes of the game to help secure the victory, notably by Richard Nolan (4 points, 4 rebounds) and Zachary Pozzi (8 points, 1 steal, 1 rebound).
Brendan Connor (12 points, 4 steals), Zayvion Eusebe (6 points, 7 rebounds) and Kyle Phillips (4 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals) also helped lead the offense while Tyler Previte (4 rebounds) and Billy Ronk (2 points, 4 rebounds) were strong on the boards and played tough defense.
Ryan Schriber and Zach Dedrick (2 rebounds and 2 steals each) handled the ball well and found open teammates with good passes while Cole Barnes was tenacious on the floor with excellent defense.
Wilton extinguished the undefeated league run of the Greenwich Flame early Saturday morning, winning 35-33 in a thriller. Eusebe led the way with 9 points while Connor and Previte chipped in with 4 apiece.
Great all-around games were played by Phillips (6 points, 3 rebounds), Schriber (6 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals) and Pozzi (4 points, 4 rebounds, 4 steals). Dedrick (2 steals) and Barnes (2 points) took care of the basketball while Ronk (5 rebounds, 4 steals) and Nolan (2 rebounds, 2 steals) protected the paint.
The boys were defeated 41-35 by Darien team on Saturday afternoon. Wilton fell behind in the first quarter 15-10 despite solid play by Eusebe (4 points), Phillips (2 points, 3 rebounds and 3 blocks), and Dedrick (2 rebounds and 2 steals).
The Warriors turned up the defense in the second and third quarters, holding Darien to 11 points combined and tying the game 26-26 at the end of three periods.
Nolan (5 points and 5 rebounds) and Previte shut down the inside game while Connor (4 points and two steals), Barnes (4 points) and Pozzi (4 points and three steals) contained the guards. Darien pulled away in the fourth quarter, however, Ronk (2 points, 2 blocks and two rebounds) Schriber (9 points, 2 rebounds and 2 steals) battled until the end.
The team won at Fairfield i35-33 on Sunday. Schriber (8 points) continued his hot hand this weekend by knocking down several outside jump shots. Barnes (1 steal, 2 rebounds) hustled and applied constant defensive pressure. Phillips (9 points, 2 steals) stole the ball in the final seconds and went coast-to-coast for a layup to seal the win. Pozzi (6 points, 3 steals) was disruptive defensively and did a nice job passing and distributing the ball. Eusebe (6 points, 2 steals) was able to score with outside jumps shots and by driving hard to the hoop. Ronk's strong rebounding was impressive.
The Warriors played their fifth game during a busy weekend and came up short 43-40 a taller and more physical Newtown team late Sunday. Phillips (13 points, 3 rebounds, 3 steals) and Eusebe (8 points, 2 rebounds) scored often with strong layups and outside jump shots.
Previte (5 points, 4 rebounds, 1 steal) and Ronk (2 points, 6 rebounds ) led the team in rebounds with Barnes (2 points, 3 rebounds) controlling the ball. Strong defense by Nolan (1 rebound, 1 steal) alongside Pozzi (2 rebounds, 1 steal) and Connor (6 points) kept the game within reach going into the half. Phillips hit a half court buzzer beater to shrink Newtown's lead to 23-19 at the break.
Aggressive play and ball handling in the third quarter by Schriber (4 points), Pozzi, Nolan and Barnes wasn't enough to keep Newtown from scoring eight points in the quarter. Phillips, Eusebe, and Connor helped put six points on the board for Noralk to end the end the third quarter at 31-25.
In the fourth quarter, Dedrick had two rebounds and baskets by Ronk, Phillips, Previte and Eusebe pulled Wilton within four points with under a minute left. Wilton was able to hit one more before the buzzer.
