Undefeated Danbury pulled away in the second half for a 51-38 victory over No. 4 seed Wilton in the semifinals of the FCIAC girls basketball playoffs Tuesday night at Fairfield Ludlowe.
The Hatters, who are seeking their first FCIAC crown in school history, improved to 22-0 and will face defending champion Trumbull in Thursday's title game.
The Eagles (19-3) advanced with a 40-33 victory over No. 7 Stamford, which upset No. 2 St. Joseph 44-25 in the quarterfinals.

Danbury's Casey Smith suffered an apparent knee injury late in the first half, which ended with the Hatters nursing a 23-22 lead.
Wilton, which made its first FCIAC playoff appearance since 2003, will take a 15-6 record in the state tournament, which begins next week. The Warriors reached the semifinals with a 49-47 victory over Norwalk on Saturday.

The Hatters may have to face Trumbull without Smith, who scored 14 points before suffering the injury. She did not return in the second half and was on crutches.
Rebecca Gartner ended up leading Danbury with 15 points while Rachel Gartner added 12.
Maggie Fulton scored 16 points and Erin Cunningham added nine for the Warriors. Casey Pearsall was held to just four points.

Wilton High School swimmers Daniel Hernandez, Devon Borchetta and Andrew Shukovsky were recognized during the Warriors' senior night celebration last Thursday.
Despite not having a diver and losing some key swimmers to injury and attrition, the team finished 4-7 overall and was competitive in every meet, earning wins against Fairfield, Trumbull, Norwalk and Danbury.
The Warriors now look forward to the Class M state championship (prelims, March 10; finals, March 13 at Wesleyan University) and the state Open meet (March 17, at Yale).

The Wilton boys basketball team wraps up what has been a renaissance season on Wednesday when the Warriors visit New Canaan (7 p.m.).
A win will give the Warriors (9-10, 7-10) a .500 regular season one year after they won just two games. It would seem that Wilton's Tim Tallcouch is the hands down favorite for FCIAC Coach of the Year as the Warriors are headed to the state tournament for the first time since 2000.
New Canaan (2-17, 1-16) is coming off its first FCIAC win of the season, a 52-47 victory over Harding on Monday, so the Warriors don't want to look past the Rams.

Despite Monday's 7-1 loss to New Canaan, the Wilton boys hockey team has clinched a spot in the FCIAC's tier one playoffs.
The Warriors, who have concluded their regular season, are tied for fourth with New Canaan at 8-4. Trinity Catholic and Fairfield are at 7-4 heading into their final conference games on Wednesday. The top six teams make the tier one playoffs.
Trinity Catholic faces Westhill and Fairfield takes on Darien. If either lose, Wilton would be assured a spot in the top six.
If both win, New Canaan would be the odd team out in a four-way tie for sixth and drop down to the tier two playoffs.
