Wilton Voters Pass $135M Town & Schools Budget
Wilton voters approved the FY 2024 budget, but rejected a $1,935,000 plan for a new turf field at Allen's Meadow by less than 50 votes.
WILTON, CT — Residents passed the 2024 fiscal year budget 1,590 to 913 votes.
Voters had three choices on the ballot related to the budget:
- YES, I approve the proposed budget
- NO, the budget is TOO HIGH
- NO, the budget is TOO LOW
Of the "no" votes cast, 557 said the combined town and schools $134,951,947 budget was too high, and 356 said it was "too low," according to Wilton Democratic Registrar of Voters Karen Birck. The budget represents a 3.06 percent increase over the current spending plan.

The $34,473,595 town budget is a 1.56 percent increase over the current budget. The school spend of $90,581,692 is a 2.89 percent jump. Debt services (10.36 percent) and the contribution to the town reserves (3.06 percent) will also increase.
The mill rate will increase by 3.66 percent.

Voters rejected the $1,935,000 plan for a new turf field at Allen's Meadow by less than 50 votes, 1,298 to 1,249. The remaining four bonding questions passed easily:
- $127,000 for Scribner Hill Road repairs passed 2,008 to 459 votes
- $950,000 Replacement fire engine passed 2,183 to 333 votes
- $780,000 school roof replacements passed 2,276 to 237 votes
- $275,000 Cider Mill School elevator design and replacement passed 2,150 to 358 votes
Vote turnout was 20.59 percent, according to Birck.
