Warriors eliminated from FCIAC girls basketball playoffs following 45-40 loss to Ridgefield

The Warriors gave it their best shot, but it wasn't quite good enough.

Wilton's hopes of sneaking into the FCIAC girls basketball playoffs ended Wedneday night when the Warriors suffered a 45-40 loss to No. 2 seed Ridgefield.

The defeat, only Wilton's second in the last 10 games, left the Warriors in 10th place in the FCIAC at 10-8 and 11-9 overall.

However, Wilton, which started the season 3-7, now prepares for its first appearance in the state tournament since 2005.

Ridgefield hosts No. 7 seed Norwalk in the first round of the FCIAC playoffs on Saturday.
