Community Prayer Service for Non-Violence
Pray for Peace n Sunday, December 14, 2014 at First Church in Windsor, 107 Palisado Avenue, Windsor, 2:00 p.m.

Two Windsor churches, First Church in Windsor, UCC and Poquonock Community Church, are combining resources to lead a Prayer Service for Non-Violence on Sunday, December 14 at 2:00PM. The gathering, scheduled to take place on the second anniversary of the Newtown tragedy, will provide a safe space for members of the community to find a measure of solace and pray for non-violence, justice and peace.
In the wake of national and local protests surrounding recent events in Ferguson and New York City, growing questions and concern for our first responders and support and remembrance for victims of all forms of violence, it is important for the community to have a place to come together to promote solidarity and fellowship. Because people are feeling frightened, lost, angry, hopeless and powerless, the pastors and leaders of these Windsor churches feet it is critical to offer a time of prayer, comfort and conversation in order to promote peace and understanding.
The service will therefore be a time of prayer, music, song, candle-lighting and fellowship for everyone and anyone opposed to all forms of violence. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.

About the Churches:
The First Church in Windsor, a United Church of Christ Church, is an open and affirming community. In partnership with other ministries of the United Church of Christ, First Church aims to spread the message of God’s extravagant welcome, reaching out especially to those who have felt there is no room for them within Christianity and the church – the excluded and alienated, the spiritually homeless and the questioning.

Poquonock Community Church is a member of The Conservative Congregational Christian Conference. Though solidly committed to the basic doctrines of the Christian faith, CCCC policy allows for diversity in many areas where Christians have tended to disagree. As an evangelical denomination, in obedience to Jesus Christ, we work together to advance the kingdom of our Lord through evangelism, church planting and missions.
