Former Windsor Police Captain Gets Prison In Federal Tax Case
A former Windsor police captain whose political beliefs caused him to stop writing tickets and paying taxes will be heading to prison.

WINDSOR, CT - Raymond McLaughlin, a former Windsor police captain, will spend two and a half years in federal prison for filing false documentation in a mortgage foreclosure case, according to the Journal-Inquirer. McLaughlin had become part of the sovereign citizens' movement in 2009 and did not pay taxes or write tickets in accordance with the group's beliefs.
McLaughlin and his wife took out a $233,000 mortgage refinance loan on their East Hartford house, then did not make payments on the mortgage. He filed phony tax documents in a state foreclosure case on his home.
McLaughlin claimed the court did not have any jurisdiction to prosecute him in the cases, a belief aligned with the sovereign citizens movement. Read the full story in the Journal-Inquirer.
