The MJLU EER - Loyola University Maryland?

The cover page for the MJLU (Marlon James/Loyola University) report indicates five researchers from Loyola University Chicago, AND four researchers from Loyola University Maryland.  I was curious as to the involvement of LU Maryland, so I asked Dr. Wendy Smith (at the August 29 presentations), of that school, how it came to be that their institution got involved with this study.  She indicated that someone at LU Chicago knew someone at LU Maryland, and this lead to a group from LU Maryland getting involved with the MJLU EER.  As far as I can tell, this is an innocent development after the MJLU contract was signed.  Evidently, this is very common in the academic world.  I just wanted to describe what I learned in pursuing this curiosity.
