Variety of Drugs Seized from Windsor Man After Vernon Traffic Stop

The driver is facing a plethora of charges, police said.

VERNON, CT – A light bulb may have been out on a car in Vernon on Thursday, but it certainly went on for the cops during the ensuing traffic stop.

The end result was a bookload of drug charges against a Windsor man, police said.

An officer on routine patrol noticed the burnt-out rear light at 2:02 a.m. on Talcottville Road near Loveland Hill Road and Rockville High School, according to an arrest report. While speaking to the driver, Ahkim Bryant, 37, of 39 Hampden Place, Windsor, an officer noticed a "large quantity" of marijuana on the rear floor, according to an arrest report.

Police said a search of the vehicle uncovered:

  • 1.8 ounces of marijuana, packaged for sale
  • 5 grams of cocaine, packaged for sale
  • 1.2 grams of MDMA, packaged for sale
  • 7.4 grams of psilocybin
  • Straws and a scale containing residue

An arrest report indicates Bryant was subsequently charged with:

  • Narcotics possession
  • Marijuana possession
  • The sale of illegal drugs
  • Possession of a hallucinogen
  • Drugs near a school
  • Use of drug paraphernalia
  • Improper maker lamps

As of Friday morning, he was being held on a $10,000 bond while awaiting an March 14 court appearance, police said.
