Windsor Houses of Worship's (WHOW) Food Collection on Town Green a Success!

Windsor Houses of Worship's (WHOW) Food Collection on Town Green a Success!

The Windsor Houses of Worship (WHOW) civic association recently held a successful town-wide food collection drive to benefit the Windsor Food & Fuel Bank. The effort was held during the August 4th Windsor Town Green evening concert by the Farmington Valley Band that was sponsored by the Carmon Community Funeral Homes’ family and staff.

WHOW, a volunteer group that is comprised of members of Windsor’s faith-based institutions, held the summer collection to remind the public that food donations for hungry people are needed all year long, and not just during the November-December holidays. Before and during the concert, audience members handed them hundreds of canned and boxed nonperishable food items and personal care products to WHOW volunteers and representatives of the Windsor Food & Fuel Bank. In addition, several people donated cash or checks for the cause.

WHOW leadership hopes that their recent food collection drive will become an annual event. The Windsor Town Green summer concert series is presented by the Windsor Chamber of Commerce and First Town Downtown.
