Airport Authority Pitches Casino at Bradley

The authority wants to bring the nation's only airport-based casino to Windsor Locks.

The Connecticut Airport Authority is hoping to bring the nation’s only airport-based casino to Windsor Locks and Bradley International Airport, according to the Hartford Courant.

Kevin Dillon, the authority’s executive director, told the Courant on Tuesday that the authority is planning to make a bid for a casino that the operators of Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun want to open somewhere in northern Connecticut to compete an MGM casino that is planned in Springfield, Mass.

The Mashantucket Pequot and the Mohegan tribes are accepting applications for casino proposals until Nov. 6.

The airport authority needs the backing of Windsor Locks to move forward and Dillon told the Courant that discussions with the town are under way but town officials have not made any commitments for the casino proposal.

The tribes are expected to choose a location by Dec. 15, according to Courant.
