Broad Brook Burglars Assault Man, Then Flee

A Broad Brook resident interrupted an attempted burglary Wednesday afternoon, but was assaulted by the suspects, who ran away, police said.

At 3:49 p.m., two white males wearing hooded sweatshirts were observed attempting to break into a residence on Depot Street by a 69-year-old neighbor. The neighbor chased the two suspects into the Mill Pond Village Apartment complex, police said.

The man was able to grab hold of one of the suspects, but both suspects then assaulted the man and escaped before police arrived.

Investigation continues on the case, and anyone with information is asked to contact the police department ASAP at 860-292-8240.
