Drunken Driver Wreaks Havoc in East Windsor

Police say a Windsor Locks man, driving three times over the legal limit, struck several vehicles and nearly hit three pedestrians.

A Windsor Locks man faces several charges after allegedly driving with a blood alcohol level three times the legal limit, striking several vehicles and nearly hitting three pedestrians Tuesday afternoon in East Windsor.

East Windsor police arrested Jordan DeSousa, 61, on charges of driving under the influence, reckless driving, evading responsibility and three counts of first-degree reckless endangerment.

East Windsor police received multiple emergency calls around 4 p.m. Tuesday reporting that a vehicle had struck several vehicles in the parking lot of Geissler’s Plaza on Bridge Street and had driven off. While officers were responding, additional calls were received regarding multiple vehicles being struck behind Maine Fish Market on Bridge Street.

When officers arrived they found five vehicles behind Main Fish that were heavily damaged and two vehicles at Geissler’s Plaza that had sustained damage.

Police said the driver of the vehicle responsible for the accident was found still seated in his pickup truck and was identified as DeSousa.

Witnesses at the scene identified DeSousa as the driver of the pickup responsible for the accident, according to police.

Officers identified three pedestrians that were standing near their vehicles that had to quickly run out of the way of the pickup truck to avoid being struck as their vehicles were struck.

Police said four vehicles had to be towed from the scene as a result of the damage sustained. No injuries were reported to the police. The vehicles behind Main Fish were parked and unoccupied.

DeSousa submitted to a breath test and his blood alcohol level found to be more than three times the legal limit, according to police.

DeSousa was released on bond with a court date of June 9.
