DUI Checkpoint Scheduled on Route 5
Metro Traffic Services and South Windsor police will be conducting a checkpoint from Friday evening until early Saturday morning.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT - The South Windsor Police Department and the Metro Traffic Services Regional Partnership will be conducting a DUI checkpoint on Friday, April 29 from 6 p.m. to 4 a.m., Deputy Chief Scott Custer said in a written statement.
The checkpoint will be conducted on John Fitch Blvd. (Route 5) between Burnham Street and Chapel Road. All vehicles entering the checkpoint will be stopped, and the operators will be briefly interviewed and observed for obvious signs of intoxication. All motor vehicle laws will also be enforced throughout the duration of the checkpoint.
The intent of the checkpoint is to promote safe driving and increase the protection of all motorists while decreasing DUI related offenses and crashes that often result in serious injuries and death. Funding for this effort has been provided through the Department of Transportation.
Metro Traffic Services is a regional partnership for traffic safety which includes South Windsor, Manchester, Coventry, Windsor, Enfield, East Windsor, Vernon, Glastonbury, Windsor Locks, and Bloomfield.
