Off-Duty Officer Helps Scare Off Suspect Attempting to Rob East Windsor Bank Employee at Gunpoint

Police are searching for the suspect, who is believed to have robbed the Nutmeg State Federal Credit Union in July.

An off-duty police officer helped scare off a masked man who was attempting to rob a bank employee at gunpoint after she closed the Nutmeg State Federal Credit Union in East Windsor Thursday night, according to NBC Connecticut.

NBC reports that the off-duty officer was at a nearby restaurant when he heard the victim’s screams and ran over.

The suspect had confronted the woman outside the bank, at 137 Prospect Hill Road, and tried to force her back inside the bank and pulled out a handgun. The woman ran away and the suspect tackled her and pushed her to the ground before the off-duty officer arrived, according to NBC.

Police are searching for the suspect, who is believed to be responsible for robbing the bank in July. He is described as more than 6-feet tall and was wearing a black ski mask, blue hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants and black gloves, according to NBC, which also reported the suspect was driving a silver hatchback with Massachusetts plates.
