Man Accused of DUI Had Loaded Guns in Car: Windsor Locks Police
Police said an active pistol permit was on file.

Windsor Locks police recently charged a man with operating under the influence while carrying a loaded firearm.
Police pulled over a vehicle driven by Joel L. Montalvo, 24, on July 1 for a traffic violation on Main Street by Oak Street.
Montalvo was found to be in possession of marijuana and while searching the vehicle’s interior a fully loaded firearm magazine was discovered under the center console, according to police.

Police said that then led to the discovery of a firearm under the driver’s seat and officers found a Glock 23, 40 cal. handgun in a nylon holster. The handgun was loaded with one magazine and had an additional magazine with 10 more hollow point rounds of 40 cal. ammunition in the carrier, according to police.
Police said Montalvo also had a .380 caliber handgun on his person and that was also loaded with one round of .380 ammo in the chamber and five more rounds in the magazine. There were six more rounds in the magazine that Officer Lang found on the center console, according to police.

Police also said that an active pistol permit was on file.
Montalvo was arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, carrying a loaded firearm while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and a headlamp violation.
Montalvo was issued a court date of July 13.
